This is a unique tour -- born out of a passion for wildlife and a desire to visit far away places, it's an opportunity to experience a South African Safari with Boma Tours, from the majestic Kruger Park in the North/East down through Eswatini/Swaziland and the Kwazulu-Natal East coast to the most beautiful Cape Province in the South.

Itinerary:

Day 1.
On arrival at Johannesburg Intl. Airport, guests are transferred to the hotel near Pretoria to settle in and relax after their journey to South Africa. Late afternoon we visit a Cultural Village for some exciting tribal singing and dancing culminating in a sumptuous traditional dinner.

Day 2.
After a leisurely breakfast the tour begins in earnest as we drive through Pretoria pointing out some of the historic buildings that played such an important part in our early history. Looking east we now “head for the mountains” to visit some of the spectacular view areas along the Blyde River Canyon (third largest in the world) such as; God’s Window, Lisbon Falls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and The Three Rondavels. The scenic drive is preceded by a lunch stop at Harries Pancakes. We overnight at a mountain resort.

Days 3, 4 & 5.
Breakfast at the Hotel then drive to the Kruger National Park, where we change to our open safari vehicle for some exciting game drives. The Kruger Park is renowned for regular sightings of the “Big 5” plus Wild Dogs and Cheetah. Our activities over the next three days are early morning and late afternoon game drives, and a sunset / night game drive hosted by a Kruger Park guide.

Day 6.
After the final early morning game drive and breakfast we change back to our Minibus and depart for Eswatini, a mountainous area and landlocked Kingdom of 17,000 square kms and largely economically supported by forestation, sugar cane fields and tourism. The country has a population of 1 million inhabitants. We visit a glass factory as well as many roadside art and craft stalls before arriving at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 7.
We leave Eswatini and drive through rural Zululand (Kwazulu-Natal Province) to reach the small picturesque town of St. Lucia by lunch time. A boat ride on the estuary can be arranged for those interested.

Days 8 & 9.
Next morning we drive along the eastern coastline to Umhlanga Rocks, the coastal holiday mecca of many South Africans. Afternoon of leisure or take a refreshing swim in the nearby tidal pool. For dinner we visit one of the local restaurants for a typical seafood experience.
The following day is set aside for leisure or take a short trip along the Golden Mile which spans the beachfront area of Durban.

Day 10.
Continue southwards along the national highway through the Transkei (home of Nelson Mandela) to the wild coast town of Eastlondon. This is simply a break in the journey and seen as a sleepover!

Days 11 & 12.
We drive through to Grahamstown, focal point of the 1820 British settlers. The town has many historic buildings dating back to this period of early British dominance and their clashes with Xhosa warriors. After a lunch break we arrive late afternoon for a game drive at the Addo Elephant National Park, a wildlife sanctuary where you will find large herds of Elephant and Cape Buffalo. It is also home to the rare and endangered Black Rhino. Lions have recently been introduced.

Day 13.
Early morning game drive before breakfast then depart for Port Elizabeth. From there we continue to follow the Indian ocean coast line through Plettenberg Bay and over the Vanstaden bridge (highest bungi jump in the world) that spans the Storms River then on to the Tsitsikamma National Park.

Days 14 & 15.
After a visit to the Tsitsikamma Forest where many protected Yellowwood trees (South Africa's National Tree) are featured, we leave for Knsyna and the famous Garden Route. After checking in to our guest house we drive to the “ Knysna Heads” to witness a spectacular African sunset followed by a visit to a lagoon restaurant for an (Oyster) seafood special. The following day is set aside for a boat ride on the lagoon and train ride on the historic choo-tjoe steam train between the towns of George and Knysna.

Day 16.
Early morning start to drive over the Outeniqua Mountains and through the Klein Karoo to Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich capital of bygone years. After checking in to our guest house we visit (time permitting) an Ostrich farm with the opportunity of participating in the Ostrich races.

Days 17 & 18.
After breakfast we visit the Cango caves, reputed to be the oldest caves in the world The 1-and-a-half hour underground excursion is not to be missed. We return to the coast line at Mossel Bay and travel to Cape Agulhas, the southern most point of the African continent where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. Further up the coast we check in to our guest house at Hermanus. Afternoon of leisure. Relax at the hotel or keep a watch for the whales that frequent these coastal waters between June and November each year. A boat ride to watch the Southern Right Whales or the Great White Sharks at close quarters can be arranged for those brave enough.

Days 19, 20 & 21.
Using our accommodation in Cape Town as our base we travel the famous Wine Route and explore all the regions of the Cape of Good Hope from Table Mountain
to Cape Point – from Hout Bay to Fish Hoek and Simonstown to Melkbosstrand for spectacular photographs of the tabletop mountain. On the morning of the last day there is time for last minute shopping before departing for Cape Town Intl. Airport for your flight home.
